This is for those who have spent at least some years
of their life in Nagpur ....
These are the few traits and specialties found in
Nagpurians and Vidharbites.
I guess fellow buddys from this region will agree with
it and others will enjoy
in reading it.
There are 25 things that will make sure whether u r a...
Nagpurian or Vidharbite.
1.We say "How"(DON'T READ THIS IN ENGLISH)( i.e. hove)
if you want to say "Yes"
2.We call old people as "Bawaji" and expect
out-of-towners to understand that.
3.We use "Mahol" & "Sahi" & Ek Number as your pet
words.
4.We compare "Dharampeth" (so called happening place
in Nagpur ), to New York 's Manhattan
instead of any other place.
5. We run to the spot wherever we see a fight, not
to help but enjoy it.
6.We eat "Imported Santras(oranges)" as ours are
exported.
7.'Temperature quotes'(specially in summer)are the
only things besides cricket which we follow
passionately.
8.We have ponds like.. "Ambazari talao" for
specific purpose like.. "Suicide".
9.We have the only university named after a
person.. "Kohchade university" (Kohchade is one who
did blunders of fake degree certificate.
10.We have 'Animal park'(Maharaj Bagh),.but the
animals are 'Two - legged'.
11.Blowing horn is absolute useless as pedestrians
are the "King" of roads.
12.The most frequently used part of our car/Bike is
the"Brake".
13.We dont drive car on roads ,rather we are driven
by the roads.
14. We always look for any smallest chance when we
can ask our friend for a PARTY, and our party will
at least have a group dance and a dinner. For dinner,
veg means a chicken dish while non-veg means the same
along with a Bottle .
15. We are always ready to celebrate and for us
celebration means dance and dance means waving
hands and legs in full josh in front of a
Sandal(Dhol and Tasha Band) .
16. We have a special breed of chicken dish called
"Sawaji" which has equal volumes of chicken and
chili.
17.We think 'Nag nala' & 'Ambazari '( Lake)as nature.
18. We say "Town", and expects everyone to know that
this means "sita-buldi"( Down Town).
19.We speak in dialect of hindi called 'Nagpuri
hindi', which only Nagpurians can understand. We
always begin in Hindi when talking to strangers no
matter if he is also a Maharashtrian or marathi
linguist.
20.We spend more time each day ,chatting on
"Tapris" or "Pan Mandir", than we spend at home.
(Note: We call PAN Shops as a PAN-MANDIR & not Pan Tapri.)
21.We have the following sets of friend: school
friends, college friends, office friends and yes..
"Tapri friends", a species unique only in Nagpur.
Our "Tapri Friends" is always your first choice then
any other group.
22.What We wear is Fashion.
23.We have M.I.D.C .,..with ' I ' being silent.
....... no industries you see.
24.We have huge Fly-Overs...which opens twice a
day: once for Morning walk & then for Evening walk.
25.Only in Nagpur you would find people going to
hanuman temple for "Telangkhedi Samosa & Bread
pakoda".
